Our Center

Our Center is a happy place where children thrive, teachers feel successful and parents learn to be proud of their disabled child.

The E.A.S.E. core education program is conducted at our centre where we currently teach 40 students of varying ages. We have three teachers carefully trained by the Co-Founders/Presidents. Each child gets two hours a week of one-on-one instruction and an individually designed program with special focus on developing communication.

While the child is with the teacher, our master trainer Anoja and Autism Consultant Chandima work with the parent on-site. This helps parents to:

  1. Understand the child’s difficulties

  2. Brainstorm problem solving

  3. Learn how to communicate with their child

The one-on-one sessions with the parents:

  1. Provide insight into the child’s day-to-day life

  2. Help E.A.S.E. find solutions to the problems parents experience

All our services are provided free of charge. The parents give back by helping with minor maintenance of the center such as helping to clean and tidy.

Our Workshops for parents foster:

  1. In depth understanding of their child and his/her challenges

  2. Better interactions with their child and knowledge on how to become effective teachers and advocates

Punishment, especially physical punishment, is taboo. We find it unnecessary in managing even the most challenging, hyperactive children. Our mix of age appropriate academics and the exercises that we do, being treated with respect and understanding and above all for non-verbal children being taught an alternate means of communication makes even the most challenging, hyperactive child eager to participate in our classroom.

Weekly staff meetings help map each child’s progress as well as identify issues. Biannual progress reports are written by teachers as well as parents.

E.A.S.E. has a growing waiting list as several paediatricians (including Professor Harendra de Silva, Head of the Department of Paediatrics at the University of Kelaniya, Sri Lanka), occupational therapists and the parents of our students often refer other families to us.
