E.A.S.E. Foundation held its first free medical camp for people with disabilities and their parents residing in the Malabe area on 28th January 2017. Services provided included blood pressure testing, blood sugar testing, counselling, physiotherapy, vision testing and dentistry.
The camp served an unmet need to provide medical care, particularly for parents who invest significant time in caring for their children and consequentially neglect their own health. This occurs for various practical reasons such as difficulty finding someone to look after their child while they are at a clinic.
E.A.S.E. extends its heartfelt gratitude to Dr. Thilak Amarasinghe of Lady Ridgeway Hospital for his extraordinary help in organising the well-attended event. Support and guidance was also provided by Dr. Chandana Perera, Dr. Sampath Randeni, Dr. Hemanrha, Dr. Mrs. Rathnayake and Mrs. Rasika Amarasinghe and the staff of the Regional Dental Health Service, Maligakanda and the Lions of Lions Club of Oasis Colombo.
The Lions Club of Oasis Colombo, presided by Lion Dhashika, sponsored the eye clinic, providing the mobile Eye Screening Unit and spectacles. The mobile dental unit was provided by Regional Dental Health Service, Maligakanda. Medicines and packets of food donated by generous friends of E.A.S.E. were distributed amongst those who attended the camp.
